Our friendly annual festival takes place in Heptonstall, above Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire. This choral and orchestral gathering making the most of an inspiring setting for preparing and performing three concerts during the week for the paying public. Musicians from across the country come together to rehearse and perform and socialise.
Our Choral Director Keith Orrell says: Our 2025 repertoire focuses on J.S. Bach’s Mass in B minor, a great choral masterpiece of the Baroque era. It is challenging and very satisfying to sing: a “must” on all choral singers’ wish-lists. In contrast, we will also experience the emotional depth and power of four great Italian and Russian opera choruses, with full symphony orchestra. And at the start of the week, we will learn two lovely famous English part-songs. Something to satisfy every choral taste! Rehearsing this music will be a major endeavour, especially the Mass. So, we very much want singers to join rehearsals from the start on Monday 26 May ahead of the Bach performance on Thursday 30 May. It will be preceded by a short contribution in the Tuesday concert earlier in the week, and followed with the singing of the opera choruses in the final concert on the Saturday. An action-packed week of fun and stimulating choral singing.
